Customer Reviews

As we started the game it went fine at first, the dialogue was sound and easy icons for my daughter to understand. Then the first object of the game is to speak to another fairy...and it's all written text. Oh no! My four-year-old knows just a few words and cannot read by herself. I did the translating at first and was very worried. But then I noticed something, she didn't ask much for reading anymore. Once she understood the objectives the game can be played without actually reading the conversations. She just kept going and learning. And she really did learn some new math skills. I was amazed, after my initial fears were put to rest.
If your child is easily frustrated, don't worry...so is mine. Just give your child a few pointers and they'll ask you to step back pretty soon.

We bought the Leapster Explorer for our two daughters (ages 3 ; 5). They have enjoyed playing it and I feel like there is a lot of potential for fun and learning with this product... however... this Tinkerbell game is lack luster. The controls (uses the directional pad and A button) are awkward and my 5 year old finds it challenging to maneuver Tink through some of the games. She intuitively tries to use the stylus for the games (which would be easier and makes a lot of sense) but that is just not how the game is designed. The math is pretty challenging as well. I had hoped that this game would be a good learning tool for gaining interest and ability into math problems, but so far my daughter has mostly been frustrated. The dialogue throughout the story is written text with no audio so I have to read everything for her. We've had this game a while and waited until my daughter's 5th birthday to give it to her, but I think that it is really geared for an older child. It's fine if I sit and help her, but not so much on her own.
